Portuguese 18th century carved walnut and gilt commode circa 1770. Stunning quality Portuguese chest of drawers, which sums up perfectly the over indulgence of the period. Dom jose period, fitted with 2 short over 2 long drawers profusely carved and detailed with parcel gilt decoration, shells to the front freize and sides. Standing on cabriole legs and ball and claw feet. Minor losses to carving, restorations, evidence of minor treated inactive worm to legs.  Restoration to age split on top surface.  Rich colour and ready to sit in any home or hotel foyer.
