About the Item

An Exceptionally Rare 18th Century, George III Period, Burr Elm Chest, Of Extremely Unusual Small Proportions, Having Superbly Figured Rectangular Top Over Two Short And Three Long Drawers, Retaining Original Brass Swan Neck Handles, Raised On Elegant Original Shaped Bracket Feet. This fabulous 18th century georgian english chest of drawers is simply a beautiful piece of antique furniture, whilst also of course being incredibly practical and functional for modern day living. In fact it is just as functional today, in the 21st century, as it was the day it was made, in the 18th century. Of relatively typical form for a mid 18th century georgian chest, aside from the extremely rare and not often found small proportions, it has been constructed using the most wonderful, rare burr elm veneers which have superb definition to their figuring and now retain a wonderful rich, warm colour and patina. The chest also retains its original brass handles and its original bracket feet, not something many chests of drawers which are nearly 300 years old can boast of.  As mentioned above the size is also incredibly rare, you just don't find many antique chest of drawers this size, especially ones that look like this and remain in such fabulous condition. As with all items which we offer for sale this chest of drawers has been through our workshops, where it has been attended to by our highly skilled, well trained, traditional antique furniture restorers who have inspected it and given it a natural wax polish to ensure it is in top condition and ready to be placed straight into the home before being offered for sale. We absolutely love this piece of furniture and believe it would be an fantastically worthy addition to any home of any kind, for any purpose. Circa 1760. Height 32.5in. Width 27.25in. Depth 15.5in.
