About the Item
A unique, Regency Period Neoclassical/ Egyptian revival, mahogany chest on stand 1811-1820
This extraordinary chest captures the grandeur of the Neoclassical/ Egyptian Revival period, seamlessly incorporating exquisite Grecian and Egyptian design elements with Grecian ebony inlay designs to the solid mahogany slab front drawers . Notice the the lack of mouldings or beading to the drawers an unusual design feature for regency furniture enhancing the architectural clean lines of the chest .
Meticulously constructed from the finest Caribbean mahogany throughout without any secondary woods to be found.
The chest is a testament to the superior craftsmanship of the maker . Every detail has been carefully considered, from the mahogany drawer linings , mahogany back boards, ensuring its durability and longevity for generations to come.
The chest is adorned with flanking columns, adding a touch of architectural elegance. The stand itself boasts a further long drawer. The fluted and reeded splayed legs gracefully descend, culminating in hairy bronze paw feet reminiscent of ancient Egyptian statuary.
This chest on stand is truly one-of-a-kind, designed and made in England by a master craftsman of the highest calibre.
