About the Item

A Stunning Quality Late 19th Century Satinwood Tall Pedestal Type Chest, Having Well Figured Rectangular Top Over Six Drawers, With Original Pierced Brass Handles And Exceptional Inlaid Decoration, Incorporating Ribbons, Swags And Harebells, Flanked By Pilaster Columns Headed With Further Floral Inlaid Decoration.  A stunning quality late 19th century victorian satinwood chest of drawers which is very similar in proportions to the ever popular wellington chest, although it doesn’t have the hinged pilaster with single lock like a wellington chest. Instead with this particular design you get six superbly smooth, functional drawers with their own locks. It is constructed using high end secondary timbers like mahogany and cedar wood and the satinwood veneers are of the highest grade. They are about the best satinwood veneers which we have seen on an item of furniture as late in date as this boasting lovely figuring and a great colour. The inlaid decoration which is found throughout the piece is also very high quality and extremely finely executed.  The chest is incredibly useful and would suit a huge variety of spaces around both the home and ffice due to its great functionality. It also retains it’s original pierced brass handles and stands on its original plinth. The chest is in excellent condition and comes with working locks and keys. As with all of the items which we offer for sale it has been cleaned, naturally wax polished and inspected, using traditional methods by our highly skilled furniture restorers before being offered for sale, ensuring it is ready for immediate use. Circa 1880. Height 48in. Width 24in. Depth 16.5in.
