A Shapely French Bombé Commode w/Nice Rococo Hardware

About the Item

A French bombé style painted wood chest of drawers from the mid 20th century. This vintage commode from France has a rectangular top with subtle serpentine front, atop a shapely body with two upper drawers being housed within a more slender frame and lower two drawers (for four drawers total) within the more exaggerated and bulbous body. The drawers are graduated in size and are each fitted with their original Rococo style hardware pulls with escutcheons at their center (quite nice hardware!). The skirt is beautifully carved at front and sides, and this piece is presented upon short cabriole legs. There is a custom taupe/brown finish with silver/gold accents. Everything is original with the exception of the new finish. This mid-century French bombé, offers a soft and sculptural presence within your room, while providing storage within, and space for decorative objects to be displayed atop.
