A Very Good Quality Early 19th Century, George III Period Mahogany Chest Of Unusual Small Proportions, Having Superbly Figured Rectanglar Top With Crossbanded Decoration, Over Slide And Three Long Drawers Retaining Original Brass Swan Neck Handles, Raised On Elegant Original Splayed Bracket Feet With Shaped Apron. A fabulous little chest of drawers, of unusual small proportions and constructed using highly decorative, well figured mahogany veneers this an extremely elegant, but also extremely functional little piece of georgian antique furniture. It also retains a good colour throughout and remains in good condition with very little restoration, or damage of consequence to speak of. The retention of its original brass handles and its original splay bracket feet is another indicator of how well loved and cherished this item has been throughout the years of its life. Perfect for use in a variety of different rooms around the home this chest is incredibly functional and is still as fit for purpose as the day it was made. It’s even small enough to serve a purpose as a bedside table if required. We believe this chest is great value for something so beautiful which offers so much function and will go on to be used and utilised for many years to come by the eventual purchaser. Circa 1800. An extremely good quality and elegant georgian mahogany seprentine chest, which boasts a good, bold serpentine shape. It is also constructed from good quality mahogany timbers and has real presence to it. Quite unusually for an item from this period it retains original brass swan neck handles as well as its original shaped bracket feet, both of which are really great features. Overall the condition is also good, one would imagine a result of many years of being cherished and loved and looked after. The overall quality of the construction, in combination with the elegant, attractive form mean that this chest is absolutely perfect for a whole host of spaces around the home, or even office.     A charming and rare 18th century Georgian yew wood miniature chest having four long drawers with original brass knobs raised on original shaped bracket feet. (There is often debate as to whether miniature furniture was made as an apprentice piece, which is when a craftsmen who is looking for a job at a workshop would create something to showcase their talents, or whether it was made as a travelling salesman's sample piece, which is when a few articles were made as scale models in advance of a road trip during which a salesman would travel the country showing prospective clients the kind of items they could produce back at the workshop and take orders from. This particular example doesn't really appear to quite fit either of those briefs however and may well have just been made as an individual, one off piece in a provincial workshop. One of the reasons for this is the construction from solid yewwood which is a rarely used material in items any larger than this as the trunks generally don't grow large enough. The overall quality is  excellent and clearly somebody has spent many, many hours  producing this wonderful piece. A really quite charming piece of antique miniature furniture...
