About the Item

SWEDISH GUSTAVIAN-STYLE PAINTED CHEST OF DRAWERS Northern European, 20th Century 39 1/4" H x 21 1/4" D x 44 1/2" W A reproduction of the Gustavian period carefully executed in the manner of the era, this painted chest of drawers features a rectilinear case raised on tapered, fluted legs with carved panels to the knees mounted with cast brass mounts. The two drawers are hand-dovetailed and fitted with finely cast brass escutcheons and pulls, these flanked on either side by fluted columns and finely cast capitals, the lower portion of each column fitted with brass stop-flutes. The painted surface is lightly distressed in a very attractive manner. The back and secondary woods are consistent with period reproduction techniques. Condition: Retains one working key. Distress throughout, though largely intentional and quite attractive. No other observed flaws. ref. 506LGS26P About silla antiques & art Established in 2009, we have available in our 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery an ever-changing selection of carefully curated and catalogued furniture, decorative arts, paintings, sculpture and estate jewelry.
