Swedish Neoclassical Style Painted Tall Chest with Carved Faces and Palmettes

About the Item

A Swedish neoclassical style mid-19th century wooden tall chest-of-drawers painted in a cream color. This Swedish tall chest features a rectangular raised top adorned in its centre with an oval carved medallion, sitting above a bevelled cornice and six dovetailed drawers. Each drawer is simply decorated with round wooden pulls and a central brass escutcheon. The side posts however, are adorned with classical carved faces in their upper section and palmettes at the bottom. The exquisite restraint shown in the décor along with the clean lines is typical of the neoclassical taste for a simple elegance that borrows from the antiquity. With its light color palette and classical Silhouette, this Swedish tall chest, circa 1850. Will be a perfect choice for any bedroom or living room.
