The top is dressed in Peach Blossom colored marble. This wonderful chest of drawers has a rounded shape, which gives it extreme elegance. Its front is divided into two drawers without crosspieces and decorated with a single cartridge centered with rocailles and flowery elements. Magnificent work of bronze ironwork. Thanks to its ideal dimensions, this pretty chest of drawers will find its place in a living room, an entrance, a hallway or a bedroom. Italy Venice or Genoa Late 19th century Fleur de Pêcher marble is a historic marble, widely used in the 19th century for exceptional creations. One of the most remarkable examples of work with this marble is the extraordinary fireplace in the Grand Salon of the apartments of Napoleon III at the Louvre Museum, decorated with bronze babies forming lights. An old fireplace made of Fleur de Pêcher marble is also visible in the Salon Ovale of the Hôtel de Soubise in Paris. The great architect Charles Garnier also resorted to the use of this quality marble for the column shafts which adorn the Grand Staircase of the Opéra Garnier in Paris. Abroad, a magnificent Peach Blossom marble fireplace sits in the gilded ballroom of The Marble House in Newport, USA, and was made by Jules Allard for William Kissam Vanderbilt. The original quarry, opened in the 17th century, is located in Serravezza in the Carrara basin, Italy. This variety is then called "Fior di Pesco Apuano" (Apuane Peach Blossom) in order to distinguish it from its Greek namesake, originally from Eretria. This marble is a breccia made up of irregular fragments spotted with purple, red or pink. In the 17th century, it was widely used in religious decoration. It was also widely used during the Second Empire, notably for the decoration of the Opéra Garnier. Since the 20th century, quarries have been found in the regions of Versilia and Garfagnana, and more recently in those of Renana, Forno and Massa. Today, this marble is rarely mined and is becoming increasingly rare.
