About the Item
Vintage Palaset modular storage box set of 4 Scandinavian Modern, Finland, 1972-1973, green and white.
Palaset Palanox, multicolored stackable boxes that allow you to build your own shelf, only produced for a few years in the early 1970s. During his expansive career, Ristomatti Ratia (1941-) has designed almost everything, from clothing to jewelry and pots to coffins. One of his iconic works of modern design is the modular shelving unit from the Palaset collection made of polystyrene. The original colors of the shelves were white, brown, red, green and yellow.
Ristomatti Ratia’s idea was to create a custom storage system for homes of different sizes. The cubes could be purchased individually and with a variety of accessories. They were produced by Treston Oy in Turku, Finland for a short period of time in the early 1970s (circa 1972-1973). The oil crisis of the 1970s put an end to the production of these gorgeous pieces.
This set includes 4 boxes with a variety of accessories, as seen in the main (first) image. These boxes can be arranged to your liking. Each box measures: 13” x 13” x 13”. Only the items included in the first image are included here.
