About the Item

A fine and large French late 19th-20th century Louis XVI style mahogany, Kingwood Bandings and fruitwood marquetry armorial commode with Sycamore Marquertry and gilt bronze mounts, after a Model of The Commode Commandée Pour La Chambre de Louis XVI à Versailles (d. 1774) by Jean-Henri Riesener (French, 1734-1806). The two-drawer and two-side door "D" Shaped commode fitted with a white and mottled white-gray marble top resting on the base with four armorial bronze figures emblematic of Courage, Force, Prudence and Tempérence.
