Commode, Taquillón, Walnut, Wrought Iron, Spain, 17th Century
Located in Madrid, ES
Locker Walnut wood, wrought iron. Spain, 17th century.
Rectangular low furniture made of oak with elements in wrought iron that rises slightly on four legs, has a slightly protruding straight top board and fronts decorated with carvings, and has two doors under two drawers, all with key lock (shields of lock decorated with simple lines only on the doors). When opening the doors, there is access to a space divided in two by a shelf decorated with a series of cut lines on its lower edge). In the upper part, under the board, there are carved brackets with simple scrolls, tongues and architectural elements; on the sides of the front some grooves remember architectural motifs. The exterior of doors and drawers and the sides of the furniture have a decoration based on frames of different sizes and shapes (crosses, squares, rectangular), following a tradition deeply rooted in Spanish furniture and that allows you to compare the ticket office...

17th Century Spanish Bargueno and Taquillon in Walnut and Bone Marquetry
Located in Paris, FR
Magnificent Bargueno, Spanish cabinet of the XVIIth century, in walnut on its taquillon, chest of drawers. The set is divided into two superposable parts. The upper part, called Bargueno, has two side handles and a wrought iron openwork decoration inscribed in geometrical forms. It is closed by a rich lock with a double hasp representing four towers and pomegranates. The bargueno opens with a flap revealing a series of drawers and architectural compartments. It features pediment, entablature and twisted column motifs in fine wood and back marquetry. It rests on the lower part, a taquillon, a chest of drawers opening by two drawers and two doors. Two pulls decorated with scallops hold the flap of the Bargueno. The taquillon is decorated with diamond motifs carved into the wood, rosettes inlaid, and wrought iron details. Each compartment closes with an openwork wrought iron lock with a shell motif.
This set is characteristic of the imposing and richly decorated Spanish cabinets of the 17th century. This antique piece of furniture was used as a portable writing desk...
