Empire Corner Cabinet or Cupboard in West Indies Mahogany, circa 1800

About the Item

From the Baltic region, a very beautiful and unusual Empire corner cupboard in fine West Indies/ Cuban mahogany with two stacked cabinet doors that are bowed, and are separated by a drawer. Some distinctive architectural details include the finely carved bonnet with anthemions, the steps that separate the upper cabinet from the lower one, and the carved acanthus scrollwork appliqués. Scandinavia, circa 1800. Comes with three working keys. French-polish finish. Measurements: 36 1/2" wide x 24 1/4" depth from each side into the corner (about 22 1/2" depth from centre into the corner) x 79 1/4" high Note: You should always request a shipping quote. Antique Empire/ Biedermeier Chest of Drawers in West Indies Mahogany, Denmark

A beautiful Danish Empire or Biedermeier chest in fine West Indies mahogany with four drawers of staggered heights. The handsome figuring of the grain is given added movement by the flat cut contiguous veneer moving horizontally across the front of the chest.. The sides also have a flat cut veneer in one piece that was at the intersection of the huge branch or fork in the tree showing the knot and the concentric circles of the grain radiating out from the knot. Chest offers a pedestal top and rests on turned front feet, with diamond-shaped inlaid satinwood key insets. The top and bottom drawers have sculpted fronts. The secondary wood is pine as is traditional in Scandinavian cabinetry. Denmark, circa 1830. Note: You should always request a shipping quote.
