Federal Chippendale Walnut Corner Cupboard

About the Item

An exceptionally fine large two piece Federal Walnut architectural corner cupboard 1780-1800 attributed to the Frederick County area of Maryland sometime in the third quarter 18th century. Fluted pilasters, compass-head door aperture with keystone, exaggerated ogee cornice with engaged capitals, and Chippendale skirting along the base make this an outstanding piece of Federal cabinet making. The backboards are one inch thick hand hewn Yellow Pine boards attached with large early five point nails. An old refinish with an exceptional color and patina to the Walnut. All parts included the sand cast Brass pulls are original with the exception of the bottom cabinet lock and one new pane of glass. There are two door panes that have small cracks in the corner but they are tight. Please ask for any additional pictures required.
