About the Item

A spectacular and finely detailed late Renaissance credenza likely created in Florence. A plank top is supported by a series of three frieze drawers with open wrought iron grilles of scrolling and acanthus leaves. The case with two parcel gilt doors open to a series of shelves. Pilasters backed with antique crimson silk velvet are covered by intricate wrought iron grilles with arabesques, birds, and foliage. A magnificent historic cabinet which could serve as a console table, buffet, or elegant storage space. Italy c. 1600.
