About the Item

Handcrafted and upcycled Brutalist style credenza designed and fabricated by Los Angeles based artisan Lou Ramirez. Ramirez's work is illustrative of the original designs of the Brutalist era, inspired by Mabel Hutchinson and Evelyn & Jerome Ackerman, who used recycled materials to create new and evocative pieces. This recently fabricated piece features an array of abstract and diverse shapes which have been affixed to the door panels, creating a visually arresting relief composition. These walnut fronted doors have been covered in a rich finish which contains a reddish tinge and the opacity of the hue varies from section to section, depending on the density of the wood grain for each individual shape. The framework of the wooden storage portion is supported by Lucite ends and a Lucite middle support section. This contrast between the mix of high-end materials along with upcycled parts adds an unconventional twist to an already uniquely crafted piece. This eye-catching sideboard would be a great addition as part of a classic, contemporary or Mid-Century Modern living room, den, man (or woman!) cave, family room, office or bedroom. It would also be an apt choice in a corporate, retail or hospitality location such as a boutique hotel lobby, cocktail bar, members club, workspace studio, executive office or in a luxe clothing emporium. Measurements: 27.5" H x 68" W x 16" D. Excellent condition. Some minor scratches and crazing to some sections of the Lucite. Some scratches to the back of the piece. Wear indicative of a handmade item built partially with upcycled parts.
