About the Item
Elegante canterano veneziano a tre cassetti, realizzato nel XVIII secolo. Il mobile presenta una struttura solida in legno massiccio, con fianchi e piano superiore in legno ebanizzato, mentre i frontali dei cassetti sono lastronati in una pregiata radica di noce dalla venatura ricca e vivace. Di particolare rilievo sono le maniglie in bronzo, finemente lavorate con un motivo a sirene contrapposte, un chiaro richiamo all’estetica decorativa tipica della tradizione lagunare. Le bocchette sono anch’esse coeve e accuratamente cesellate. Nonostante alcune modifiche avvenute nel corso del tempo, in particolare al piano e alla parte inferiore delle gambe, la qualità originaria del mobile è ancora ben conservata, soprattutto nella radica e nella ferramenta.
Il cassettone misura 100 cm di larghezza, 52 cm di profondità e 94 cm di altezza. All’interno si conserva un’etichetta manoscritta d’epoca, indirizzata al conte Giovanni Battista Viola, figura probabilmente legata a una storica torrefazione veneziana del Settecento, elemento che arricchisce il valore storico e documentario del pezzo.
