Floating Mexican Console With Stone Inset and Pepe Mendoza Drawer Pulls

About the Item

Stunning and whimsical floating Mexican console, c. 1960s. This five drawer floating cabinet features three top inset stone panels with malachite and brass decorative pulls by Pepe Mendoza (each signed). The console is supported by four beautiful brass corbels said to be custom designed by Charles Hollis Jones for a Richard Hillis interior of a William Cody home. We have not been able to document that, but others have echoed on a few others that have been offered to market. Nonetheless, they are uniquely perfect. All five drawers that open smoothly and provide storage. Each drawer has a deep purple felt liner. The cabinet is in original condition and has some minor finish wear. Old professional repair on stone. Not highly visible. Still shows and functions very well. This cabinet would look fabulous in an entry way under a mirror and/or art. Of course, it can be used in a variety of different ways. Similar designs by Frank Kyle, Michael Van Beuren, Eugenio Escudero and Grosfeld house.
