About the Item

A charming and well-proportioned 18th-century French Provincial bonnetiere, handcrafted in Normandy circa 1780. Made in two parts for easy transport, this tall and narrow cupboard is constructed from solid pine and features an attractively aged painted finish in soft tones of ivory and faded blue. The facade is defined by two arched paneled doors, one above and one below a central single drawer. They are framed by molded edges and punctuated with original wood knobs. The shaped apron and molded cornice add graceful architectural detail, characteristic of Normandy cabinetry from the late 18th century. The interior retains its original pine shelving, offering generous storage for linens, books, or kitchenware. With its rustic elegance and warm patina, this piece would serve beautifully in a variety of interiors, from country to cottage to coastal.
