19th Century Tuscan Italian Renaissance Polychrome Painted Buffet Cupboard

A stunning large antique Tuscan two-door cabinet (buffet - credenza) with Renaissance style polychromed decoration. circa 1850 Hand-crafted in the Provincial Tuscany region of central Italy in the mid-19th century, old solid wood construction, most likely pine, in the original paint finish, Neoclassical taste, having a rectangular top over conforming two door cupboard, opening to spacious interior fitted with one shelf, rising on tapering squared legs with ring-and-spike feet. The doors and sides feature inset panels with beautiful medieval Florence hand painted whimsical flags capped by grotesque scrolling foliate embellishments. Dimensions: (approx) 48.25" High, 63.75" Wide, 27.5" Deep As warm and attractive as it is versatile, having the ideal size and proportions for a variety of different uses, including as a dining room sideboard, family room media stand or credenza, oversized hall console, farmhouse kitchen cupboard, bedroom chest of drawers commode, large storage cabinet and more Condition Report: Good antique condition with beautifully aged warm rustic heavily worn distressed chippy paint patina. Wear consistent with age and extensive use, including scattered chippy paint losses throughout, minor losses, old restorations, nicks and dings, areas of exposure related wear to interior, one door off kilter, accompanied by key.

(plant stand - indoor planter - conservatory or solarium garden box - flower display) Born in Italy in the late 19th century, most likely originating in the Veneto region of Northern Italy (Venetian), exquisitely hand-crafted in medieval Italian Renaissance style / Henry II taste, having a removable metal interior liner with handles, resting in the well-made rectangular case with stepped molded edge, over paneled frieze adorned in intricate hand carved plaquette and foliate scrolled rinceaux relief ornamentation, rising on urn-form turned column supports, atop large platform shelf base with conforming stepped molded edge further raised on bun feet with primitive inset casters. Dimensions: (approx) 22" High, 40" Wide, 17.5" Deep A wonderful example of functional art. In good original antique condition, it's srong, sturdy and structurally sound with rich patina over the whole. Substantial wear consistent with age and indicative of use.
