About the Item
This incomparable chinoiserie black lacquer sideboard depicts figures in various typical traditional scenes. What more can you ask for really? As if that's not enough, there's plenty of traditional hand painted Asian motif from head to toe. The reds and greens appear as magical and irradiant as the subject of the art itself, 20th century.
Two doors with six drawers inside open and close with ease.
Finished on the back with a beautiful gilt bamboo against a solid black background.
The central compartment is designed like a central shrine.
The black lacquer looks great and has also been masterfully and subtly touched-up. The key to any restoration is making improvements without making it look as though anything has been done.
