Chinese Qing Dynasty Late 19th Century Traveler's Chest with Removable Door

About the Item

An antique Chinese Qing Dynasty period elmwood traveler's chest from the late 19th century, with removable front panel, carrying handle and carved motifs. Created in China during the Qing Dynasty period, this elmwood traveler's chest features a linear body surrounded by a solid handle pierced in its upper section for easier grip and carved on the sides with delicate volutes. Brass braces are securing the body. The façade showcases a single door fitted with a traditional round medallion with key and teardrop motif. This panel is entirely removable and opens to reveal two drawers fitted with ring pulls on petite circular backplates, and inner shelves offering convenient storage opportunities. The ensemble rests on a thin plinth. With its clean lines, small proportions and nicely carved décor, this Chinese Qing Dynasty period elm wood traveler's chest from the late 19th century will make for a lovely addition to any home, perhaps placed in a living room or bedroom.
