Pretty and distinctive French Louis XV style cabinet; skilled cabinetmakers used different colors of walnut wood to make this item; light walnut veneer with a balanced geometric pattern was inserted on the top shelf; the same workmanship was repeated for the convenient drawer underneath and the doors, an aesthetically refined and elegant execution; the handles of the drawer, the two elaborate decorations on the upper sides, the small frieze at the bottom, and those at the end of the legs, are made of gilded bronze; below the drawer, there is a convenient compartment closed by a door equipped with an original metal grille, while another capacious compartment is located below and has two doors. The craftsmen who worked on this cabinet, giving it small dimensions and multiple clever functionalities of use, managed to create an extraordinary, sought-after, and compelling piece of furniture, which by virtue of its extreme elegance and soft romantic line, makes it extremely versatile and easily placed in any environment. An exceptional quality European walnut in different shades of color was used for the entire construction of the cabinet; it is a type of wood that due to its rich coloring, dimensional stability, impact resistance, and sturdiness are widely used in high-end furniture, this type of wood, thanks to the many natural grains that are always different, makes the cabinet elegant, refined and unique. The cabinet was made between 1870 and 1880 in a traditional craft workshop in the vicinity of Paris, most likely in the medieval village of Provins, because it was purchased by us along with other furniture at an antique market in the area. Furniture in the Louis XV style is simple and refined, the balance of its forms is able to give the whole piece of furniture an elegant and refined air. They are considered a source of inspiration for the search for harmony and proportion, or as a rich decorative repertoire to be treated with the same freedom of invention that had already been put into practice in the Rococo period.
