About the Item

A wonderful example of Swedish country craftsmanship and folk art painting from the Dalarna region of Sweden. This cupboard is exquisitely painted in earth tones and decorative patterns throughout. Of special note is the large step cut crown molding with a date of 1788 inside a Swedish crown. Note the rich, aged patina of both pine and painted finish. Upper and lower cabinet doors open with knob/pull and doors are held in place with interior clip (locks no longer functions). Note, this cabinet also has two traditional drawers that are only accessible when the upper cabinet doors are open. No pull to the drawers, they are painted and blend into the decor of the cabinet. This highly original Swedish cupboard has been professionally restored and waxed so it is strong, stable and ready for use. Nicks, scratches and cracks are age and use related, seen throughout this 200 year old cupboard. Built in two sections for easier transportation and installation. All nicks, scratches, cracks, signs of distress/wear, age-related separation (seen at crown, etc.) are commensurate with age and do not impact the function nor beauty of this original painted Swedish Dalarna cabinet. Please refer to professional photos for clear understanding of color, condition, and details; photo lighting, individual monitor display and home lighting all impact how item is viewed. Photos are part of item description, please ask questions or request additional photos of specific areas if needed.
