Rare Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky Frankfurt-Kitchen "Frankfurter Küche"

$43,995.31

About

The Frankfurt kitchen was a milestone in domestic architecture, considered the forerunner of modern fitted kitchens. It was the first time a kitchen was constructed following a unified concept, designed to enable efficient work and to be built at low cost. It was designed in 1926 by Austrian architect Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky for architect Ernst May's social housing project New Frankfurt in Frankfurt, Germany. It contains wooden cupboards with glass doors, an ironing board and storage scoops for food. The design is very significant for the Bauhaus period. Among others, Schütte-Lihotzky collaborated with Adolf Loos in the 1920s.
