19th Century French Louis XV Style Marquetry Bureau Desk with Secret

About the Item

19th century French Louis XV style marquetry bureau desk with secret compartment, circa 1870. It is decorated throughout with beautiful floral marquetry and the the cylinder has a stunning marquetry panel. It has a beautiful top with a gilt brass three quarter gallery around it. The door opens to reveal a fitted interior with four small drawers and a pullout / pull-out writing surface fitted with an inset red velvet. The bureau has its original ormolu handles and mounts and stands on gorgeous ormolu-mounted cabriole legs. It has a secret compartment for you to discover ...
