About the Item

An exceptional 5-Drawer Mahogany Davenport desk with tooled leather top and gallery. The Davenport desk, sometimes originally known as a Devonport desk is a small desk with an inclined lifting desktop attached with hinges to the back of the body. Lifting the desktop accesses a large compartment with storage space for paper and other writing implements, and smaller spaces in the forms of small drawers and pigeonholes. This Davenport has 5 drawers on one of its side with original drawer handles and 4 faux drawers on the other sides. This stack of side drawers holds up the back of the desk and most of its weight. This desk is in very good vintage condition and measures 22.75" in width, 23" in depth and stands 34" in height to the top of the gallery. The knee clearance is 22.5" high.
