About the Item

An exceptionlal and very rare Qianlong period Chinese export Bureur, Constructed in Hauli and Huanghuali wood in China during the first half of the 18th century for a wealthy Englishman, to an English design of the period. This bureu is in superb original condition including original handles and most locks. The fabric lining to the work surface has obviously been replaced. The construction although very English in overall design bears many quirky features not seen in English cabinet making, such as the jointing of the carcas and dovetails of the drawers. The way the fall is cleaated together and the use of bamboo dowels. Delightful small size and pleasing proportions.
