Antique Carved Oak Scottish Arts & Crafts Green Man Desk Bureau Dresser 1880

About the Item

A good antique Scottish carved oak Arts & Crafts 'Green Man' desk, circa 1880. The Green Man design has it's roots in antiquity, the face made up of leaves or foliage represents the idea of rebirth and the cycle of new growth that occurs during the Spring. The desk with a carved gallery with a foliate design, the carved fall-front is supported by two pull out lopers & encloses a fitted interior with five pigeon holes and two drawers. The base having four deeply carved graduated drawers with handles modeled as 'Green Man' masks, the desk is raised on bracket feet with a shaped skirt. The desk locks and the original key is present, condition is very good indeed and has just receiving a good wax polish in our workshop, this desk is ready to grace your home and makes for a great laptop workstation or just a place to complete paperwork or write letters?
