Antique George III Edwardian Adam Style Satinwood Painted Desk Bonheur Du Jour

About the Item

A fine antique Edwardian George III Adam Style Satinwood and marquetry paint decorated Bonheur du Jour, desk, attributed to Edwards & Roberts, circa 1890. The desk with a shaped gallery paint decorated with a floral basket, the back of the desk fitted with two short and two long drawers decorated with painted floral swags and garlands, flanked with cupboard doors inlaid with oval paterae and corresponding painted floral decoration. The desk having a fold-out paint decorated writing flap with a green baize writing surface, below is a single long drawer, the desk raised on four tapering legs with the original brass castors. The desk is in very good condition indeed and is a tour de force of the cabinet maker's skill, a beautiful object ready to grace your home.
