A cylinder desk in the Hepplewhite style, executed in flame mahogany veneers and tulip poplar and yellow pine geometric inlay. The center door is inlaid with a heraldic eagle. Invented in the first half of the 18th century, cylinder desks feature a cylindrical cover that slides open to reveal interior storage compartments and a writing surface.
