Chrome Desk with Smoked Glass Top by Gilles Bouchez for Airborne, France 1970s

About the Item

A rare French executive desk designed by Gilles Bouchez for Airborne in the 1970s. This desk has a steel frame composed of two U-shaped units joined together by three thick chrome-plated cylinders and flat circular hardware. A black wood drawer is suspended on the right side and a rectangular smoked glass top sits on cork supports, making it appear to float above the frame. Unmarked. Sourced in France, 1970s. Good vintage condition. Patina and oxidation to the steel base and cylinders, concentrated on the inner sides where the cylinders meet the frame. The wood drawer has small marks, loss of paint on the outer corners and is missing one screw. Minor scratches throughout the smoked glass tabletop. The tabletop is not affixed to the base.
