This stunning inlaid Mahogany Federal Hepplewhite Tambour Desk, most likely originated in the Massachusetts area between 1800-1805 time period. It is a stellar example of the craftsmanship of this era with its intricate inlay work as well as the detail of the tambours and the brass hardware. With all functioning parts and what appears to be original or extremely old felt inlay on the writing surface, this desk has been thoughtfully and carefully cared for over the years. The upper portion of the desk comes off.     Replacements made: We are speculating that the felt would have had to have been replaced at some point long ago, considering the age of the piece. Additionally, there might be areas where small pieces of inlay were replaced. Wear consistent with age and use. Overall, this piece is in amazing condition with what would be considered very light wear for a piece this age. Please review all provided pictures for any surface wear or missing inlay, which would be minimal.
