About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning hand carved solid oak Dutch twin pedestal double sided partner desk and matching original leather armchair circa 1940s This set was hand made by a master craftsman in Bruges Belgium for a very successful Architect. Its part of a complete Library suite which includes the double sided heavily carved partners desk, matching original upholstery brown leather chair, side table, large hutch cupboard and huge triple bank full sized library bookcase, all other pieces are listed under my other items This desk is as you can see double sided meaning it’s a true partners desk, the idea being your “business partner” or secretary would sit opposite you. You have an arrangement of drawers and cupboards on both sides, I have the shelves for each cupboard as well however they are not pictured The desk easily dismantles into three main pieces, you have the two side pedestals and the desk top, those are the main sections, you also have the two middle drawers Both pieces are solid oak, the desk top has been inlaid with the grains facing opposite directions which gives it an amazing geometric look and feel We have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, the timber is all perfect, the leather upholstery is nicely aged and crackled, the desk has all the keys for the locks present and they all work Desk dimensions: Height 78cm Width 171cm Depth 101.5cm Legroom:- Height 61cm Width 54cm Leather armchair dimensions Height 88cm Width 57cm Depth 53.5cm Seat height 49cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses Condition: Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
