About the Item

A beautifully crafted early 20th-century American Arts & Crafts postcard writing desk in solid quarter-sawn tiger oak. The rectilinear form, exposed joinery, and honest construction exemplify the Mission style, reflecting the ideals of simplicity and craftsmanship of the period. Supported by square legs joined by stretchers, the piece retains its original dark fumed oak finish with a warm, even patina. A functional and timeless example of early American design, perfect for a study, entryway, or small workspace. This petite desk features one dovetailed drawer with original brass pulls and an (removable) upper gallery with a shaped backboard and cubby compartments for stationery or correspondence. The drawer pulls are simple rectangular brass handles and have an aged bronze patina, with straight-line geometry. That particular hardware design was used most often by Lifetime Furniture Co. and exact reference to Grand Rapids Co.,
