About the Item

A truly elegant four-drawer walnut desk with original glass top which is attributed to the Bolognese architect and designer, Melchiorre Bega. This sculptural wooden desk boasts beautiful lines, with angled tapered legs and polished brass sabots on each of its eight feet. The two main drawer sections of the desk, (joined together by a central wooden crossbar), support the original, rectangular 'Vitrex' glass top. This early production 'toughened' glass shows the 'clamp' marks on one side where it was removed from the furnace during manufacturing process. The lower right hand drawer can also be locked - a working key is provided.
