French 19th Century Louis XV Style Bureau Plat Signed Sormani
About the Item
A stunning and extremely high quality French 19th century Louis XV style kingwood and tulipwood Bureau Plat signed Sormani, Paris. Raised on four cabriole legs with wrap around ormolu sabots and ormolu chutes. Intricately chased ormolu mounts of highly detailed faces of a young lady alternating with a native American boy adorn each corner. Above the scalloped apron is a drawer with impressive ormolu keyhole escutcheon and a foliate ormolu mount. At each side are richly chased ormolu mounts of masculine masks. All with ormolu borders. At the top is the striking quarter veneered kingwood writing surface framed in an ormolu gallery with highly detailed ormolu cabuchons at each corner. All original gilt with a warm patina throughout.
