George II Style Mahogany Leather Top Writing Desk

About the Item

A George II style mahogany writing desk with an inset leather top, circa 1920. The rich brown leather writing area is decorated with tooled Greek Key and beaded borders. Three shallow drawers are housed in the tabletop above five graduated drawers, housed in two pedestal bases. Drawers are hand dovetailed, and open with brass bail handles on simple bat-shaped back plates. The desk is finished with beveled edges and stands on curved bracket feet. The tabletop lifts off the two individual pedestals making it easier to move. Knee clearance 25.5".
