About the Item
Found in France, this Louis XVI style desk dates from the 1880s. Desk is mahogany with an ebonised finish and brass trim. New leather top / writing surface. Five locking dovetail construction drawers with brass trim and hardware; a center drawer flanked by two drawers on both sides. Reeded and tapered legs with brass caps and trim. Pull out shelves on both sides. Desk is finished on back so the desk can be floated in a room. Knee height is 24". Unknown maker.
Very good antique condition with new leather writing surface and professionally applied ebonised finish.
