Modernist Bombay Rosewood & Scrub Pine Desk + Chair by George Sneed Circa 1970s

About the Item

An English Modernist design solid Bombay rosewood and scrubbed pine desk along with rosewood and leather chair, made by George Sneed. Circa 1978. The desk comes with a wonderful acknowledgement in Country Life magazine from 1978, please refer to the photographs, showing a page from the magazine. The desk is in very good condition, showing some light wear, mainly to the scrubbed pine. It is structurally very sound, with no damage. The vertical rosewood rail to the front does not quite line up. The textured writing top is in a dark burgundy colour. There are a few marks to this with use. The open shelf beneath the top has an inset also. The drawers work well, and have solid wood handmade dovetail construction to them. The chair is made in rosewood with a black leather slung seat. The chair is very sturdy in structure with no loose joints, the seating is all intact. This could be used with the desk or as a side chair. The seating is comfortable, it does feel a little low to use with the desk, but this is subjective. Additional dimensions information: The kneehole is 61cm high. The chair is 41cm wide x 41cm deep x 78.5cm high. The seat height is approximately 43cm. *Free delivery for all areas in MAINLAND England & Wales only.
