Outstanding Gothic Revival Tiger Oak Desk w. Quality Carved Church Window Panels

About the Item

Wonderful Gothic Revival desk with an amazing presence and patina. If you like Gothic Revival furniture then we are certain you will like this quality carved Gothic desk. This good size and highly practical specimen comes with very attractive, church-window-like panels in the perfect condition cabinet doors. This intricate and predominantly solid tiger oak desk also comes with striking scripture-page carvings all around. Have you also noticed the mint condition, cast iron hinges on the doors? They are like Gothic spires but then sideways and they too add to the marvelous Medieval look and feel of this one of a kind antique desk. However, to us, what makes this Gothic desk stand out from any other that we have seen or sold are the many, striking tiger oak stripe patterns all around and also on top. These tiger-like stripes are almost orange in color and it is the way in which the oak was sawn that creates these patterns. The oakwood that was used to hand-create this desk was 'quarter sawn' which is a more expensive way of sawing, but the result is breathtaking. Especially when the light (daylight or artificial) shines on this desk, the patterns are second to none. In the left cabinet/compartment are two perfect drawers at the bottom and a clean and handy compartment above them. Behind the door on the right are two evenly divided and deep tiers for storing all kinds. The two drawers right above the doors too are beautiful. As you can see the key holes are in the middle of finely carved quatrefoil symbols and in our image taken from the side you can also see the perfect dove-tail connections. They could not be more precise. By the way, both doors and both drawers atop come with perfect working locks and keys. This desk stands as strong and stable as the day it was handcrafted and in another 100 years time it still will. In the bottom of the desk-top is a wooden frame in which both the tops of the cabinets fit precisely. So all you need to do to take this desk apart (and take it anywhere you like) is too lift the desk top from the cabinets. Apart from a minor discoloration on the desk-top (where former owners used to work or read a bible) this antique Gothic desk is in superb condition (both inside and out) and we expect that it will be gracing a new owner's home or office soon. Especially at our price. Mind you, our price for this stunning Gothic desk includes perfect packing (in a custom made crate with cushions) and also worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 workdays. Maximum width x height x depth: 63 x 30.4 x 31.5 inches. Knee-hole dimensions / space for desk chair: height x width 28.1 x 20.6 inches. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish yet practical and for craftsmanship of years gone by. Your purchases will be extremely well packaged and we look forward to serving you (again).

Unique early 1900s, solid nutwood, Gothic Revival writing table. If you are a collector of unique, great looking and practical to use Gothic antiques then this striking desk could be flying your way soon. This antique writing table has the most beautiful top that we have ever seen on a Gothic desk. The top is actually inlaid with a stunning burl nutwood and to make it even more special, the extra 'slides' on the sides (the ones that can make this desk more than 8.5 feet wide) have been inlaid with the exact same burl 'star pattern'. We feel this desk must have always been used with a glass top, because we have also never seen an unrestored desk of this age with a mint desk...
