Pair of California Studio Craft Koa Filing Cabinets
About the Item
Pair of California studio craft filing cabinet designed by Jim Sweeney, Berkeley, circa 1983. The cabinets are handcrafted of solid Koa wood, and each features two filing drawers with boldly exposed joinery on the cabinet and drawers with elegantly carved Brazilian Rosewood handles. The cabinets have been professionally restored in a natural oil finish to highlight the exquisite wood grains and joinery.
Koa wood is a highly prized and valuable wood species that is endemic to the Hawaiian Islands known for its beautiful, rich, reddish-brown color and striking grain patterns. Koa is particularly valued for its strength, durability, and resistance to water and insects.
