Small Mahogany and Rosewood Middle Desk, Napoleonic Period

About the Item

This magnificent bureau, crafted during the Napoleon III era in the mid-19th century, is a perfect example of the elegance and refinement of the late Louis XV style. Crafted in mahogany and rosewood, it is distinguished by its meticulous details and exceptional craftsmanship. The bureau opens with three drawers, one wider and one compartmentalized. The drawer fronts are made of rosewood veneer arranged in quatrefoils, framed with bronze gadrooned rods. Each drawer is equipped with authentic and functional locks with entry and key. The sides and back of the cabinet are shaped in the same style as the drawers, offering perfect visual harmony. The bureau top is accented by a brass ingot mold and upholstered in black leather with a central gold motif, adding a touch of luxury. The whole rests on four curved legs adorned with astragals, descending to sabots decorated with acanthus leaves, demonstrating the attention to detail. This desk is not only a functional piece of furniture, but also a collector's item that reflects the art and culture of its time. ******** Period: Mid-19th century Excellent condition.
