About the Item

Equal parts function and artistry this sleek writers desk, designed by influential Peter Løvig Nielsen, features a cleverly designed sliding top that reveals hidden compartments on both the left and right sides with enough space to fit laptops, accessories, small books and other desk items. In addition to the storage under the desk top are three drawers with locking top drawer, key included. Born in 1925, Peter Løvig Nielsen was a leading name in Danish design from the modern Scandinavian movement of the 1950s and 1960s. Renowned for his elaborate desks, tables and storage furniture, Nielsen, like many of his Danish contemporaries, favored high-quality woods such as teak, rosewood, walnut and rosewood. His designs are recognizable by their organic, rounded shapes and tapered legs as well as clever uses of storage space which is on full display with this extraordinary desk. With its clever use of storage space, high-quality Burmese Teak with exceptional old-growth woodgrains and locking drawer this elegant writer's desk is ideal for those searching for an authentic Danish masterpiece that is as functional as it is aesthetically captivating. The mix of solid and teak composition is in remarkably excellent shape showing only minor nicks and surface scratches (which can be seen in the detail photos provided). With that said the wear is minimal with no stains, gouges or other damage present and the variegated woodgrains of the Burmese teak is absolutely mesmerizing in natural light. The cleverly designed desk top slides with ease in each direction to expose clever storage space beneath. The storage space under the desk top measures W - 22.5" x D - 15" x H - 2.25" on both right and left side. All three drawers open and close with ease and the top drawer does lock and includes a key (though not the original).
