About the Item

We delighted to offer for sale this large Victorian twin pedestal 12 drawer and 2 cupboard Sapele wood double sided partner desk with reddish brown leather top and oversized castors This desk is a good large size, originally designed as you can see for two people to share, its rare to find one in this timber, there are around 20 keys which I think should cover one for each lock, I have tried various keys and each one is specific to the drawer. The locks are mostly stamped G & S Allgood which is a company still going today over 110 years after its formation This piece is period Victorian hand made in England from solid sapele wood as mentioned, it has the original reddish brown leather top, the drawers are all fully functional and use the entire space of the frame, the desk has been hand carved with a foliage banding around the top, the pedestals can be swapped around so you have both cupboards on one side and the other is full drawers. As you can see the cupboard section is actually made up of three false front drawers so the desk looks nice and even from both sides The desk has a massive amount of leg space so you can fit a very tall persons legs under there easily and fully tuck the chair away when finished. The whole piece sits of four industrial oversized vintage kendrick castors and rolls with ease We have deep cleaned hand condition waxed and hand polished it from top to bottom, the timber will have normal age related patina marks here and there Dimensions Height 78.5cm Width 182.5cm Depth 114cm Legroom Height 62.5cm Width 85cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point. Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
