Mahogany 2 drawer writing table. Circa 1870 This writing table comes with the makers mark of Holland and Sons The writing table is raised upon ring turned legs with original brass castors. The table features 2 mahogany lined drawers with original mahogany knobs The table top having shaped supports and a green leather writing surface (replacement) with hand applied gilt and blind tooling. Holland & sons was one of the most prominent cabinet-making firms of the victorian era, renowned for producing high-quality furniture and furnishings. Based in london, the company was established in 1803 by stephen Taprell and William Holland. William Holland later became the sole proprietor, and the business grew significantly under his leadership.
