About the Item
Elegant drop-leaf secretaire writing desk crafted from golden elm and glowing ribbon mahogany with carved elm details, cabriole legs, Bakelite escutcheons, Bakelite interior drawers pulls and antique brass finish exterior ring pulls. Made in Sweden circa 1950, as a writing desk known as a “secretaire” (secretary in English). The top leaf folds down to reveal a smart workspace with cubbyholes and drawers, all faced in ribbon mahogany veneer - perfectly sized for a notebook computer, tablet or writing surface. The lower section offers substantial storage with three large dove-tailed drawers, making it ideal for stowing your computer, office equipment, extra bedding, or clothes. When closed, this desk transforms your space, serving as a functional small home office and a beautiful, classic piece of furniture in any room.
Made of solid hardwood elm and birch with golden elm and ribbon mahogany veneers as typical of this era.
