‘XiangSheng I' Desk is an elegant piece of art furniture in oxidized and brushed bronze, with a glass top, that plays on the unity between structural form and space. It combines surfaces in brushed bronze with a refined champagne color and surfaces in oxidized bronze with a deep Etruscan green patina. ‘XiangSheng I' Desk is exclusively produced and sold by Galerie BSL in a limited edition of eight pieces and four artist proofs. Pricing does not include 20% VAT applicable in the EU only. ‘XiangSheng I' Desk is part of the ‘XiangSheng’ furniture collection by much acclaimed duo Studio MVW, founded in Shanghai by Chinese designer Xu Ming and French architect Virginie Moriette. Known for its sculptural, architectural forms and ability to subtly connect contemporary Western and Eastern aesthetics, Studio MVW has won numerous awards in Asia and Europe, including the Architectural Digest AD China 100 Design Talents Award four times in a row (2019, 2017, 2015 and 2013), Wallpaper Design Award (2018, 2014), ELLE Decoration International Design Award (2013). 'XiangSheng' collection is an exploration into how solid and void can join in perfect unity and celebrates Studio MVW’s cross-cultural philosophy. In the West, a solid object is seen in terms of material and form and admired for that. In the East, the concept of the void is meaningful and can be traced back to Taoist philosophy to represent the spirit empty of thought, a quiet, patient place from which the subliminal can flow. As such, their design sensitively crosses cultures, connecting Eastern and Western aesthetics and practices in a collection which has earned mutual appeal.
