19th Century Dry-Scraped Swedish Chest of Drawers

This antique Swedish dresser, crafted from solid pine, embodies classic charm and rustic beauty. Its handsome design is highlighted by a beautiful, time-worn "Swedish pink" paint that adds a touch of vintage sophistication. The dresser rests gracefully on understated bracket feet, enhancing its sturdy yet refined appearance. The single-board top showcases a wonderfully patinated surface, with traces of the original paint still visible, telling the story of its storied past. It features three dovetailed drawers, each adorned with the original brass escutcheons and complemented by three distinct sets of brass bail pulls, adding a unique character to the piece. The top drawer is thoughtfully divided into three sections, perfect for organizing smaller items. This versatile dresser is ideal for use in a bedroom or entry hall, seamlessly blending with modern décor while adding a touch of timeless character to your home. Found in Sweden, circa 1820. Solid Swedish pine construction. The dresser was built by a skilled craftsman; the body is constructed using dovetailed joinery. The original “Swedish pink” paint has been dry scraped, resulting in a wonderful time-worn patina. The drawers glide smoothly. The three differing pairs of drawer pulls are not original to the piece but are in keeping with the age of the dresser. The original locking mechanisms are present, but sadly the key has been lost over the years. No structural damage. Minor dents and scratches are present; overall wear is consistent with age and use. Measures approximately 45.375” W x 21.375” D x 35.5” H.
