19th Century English Pine Kitchen Dresser

About the Item

This handsome English pine kitchen dresser features a three-shelf upper plate rack over a three-door dresser, offering both display and storage in a classic country style. The warm patina of the pine enhances its character, while thoughtful details such as the v-groove paneled back, decorative trim at the top, and grooved molding around the flat surface add to its timeless appeal. The upper plate rack includes three shelves and cup hooks (7 at the top, 8 in the middle, and 7 at the bottom shelf) for hanging mugs or utensils, while the lower section houses three drawers over three cabinet doors that open to reveal a single half-depth shelf in each. The drawers are crafted with traditional dovetail joinery (that glide smoothly) and are fitted with turned wooden mushroom knobs. Decorative slide bolt latches secure the three lower paneled doors. The upper rack's carved edges further highlight the craftsmanship, and the piece retains the raw pine's rich natural wood tones. Found in England. Consists of two separate pieces, with the hutch resting atop the dresser. Dovetailed drawers run nicely. Cup hooks (not shown, but are available) are present along the upper shelves. The original shellac has been scrubbed to reveal the natural wood tone. The slightly bowed upper shelves do not compromise the overall structural integrity of the piece. A small portion of the upper plate rack has been notched (likely to fit within the original room’s crown molding). Slight damage to the v-groove paneling at the base where the upper section meets the lower. Minor wood separation in areas. Nicks and scratches throughout, consistent with age. Minor wood rot at the bottom right side and lower left door. Overall condition of the piece is consistent with age and use. Overall dimensions are approximately 67.75” W x 18.5” D x 81” H. Upper Plate Rack Shelving approximately 66.375” W x 10.5” D x 45.25” H. Lower Dresser approximately 67.75” W x 18.5” D x 35.75” H.
